Puffer lands in New York City to interview the famous artist Romare Bearden, who uses a variety of media to make his unique images about family, rural & urban life, and music. See The Conversation, Early Carolina Morning, Spring Way, Pittsburgh Memories, Three Folk Musicians, and Showtime as Bearden describes the artowork and Puffer offers his own observations.

Animated biographical sequences are combined with details and full-screen images of actual Bearden masterworks. The dialog will prompt viewers of all ages to make their own interpretations of the works of art. The video/DVD is accompanied by a study guide with discussion questions and related art activities.
